About me

Why did I become an hypnotherapist?

My family has a history of bipolar disorder so I have always sought ways to help my loved ones manage mental health issues. I have also suffered bouts of depression myself during different phases of my life, particularly becoming a new mum and dealing with post- natal depression. During these different phases I have sought therapy myself, I have undertaken a programme of cognitive behavioural therapy and experienced talking therapies all of which helped me in different ways.

However, cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy has really helped me to move forward with my life. The benefits were so positive from the relaxation aspect to the focused problem solving and manifesting the changes I wanted to experience. So, it felt fitting to help others to take control of their mental health and make positive changes in life.

How does cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy work?

Firstly, I am not going to get inside your head and make you do the funky chicken. I am going to give you the skills to get inside your own head, giving you the confidence to do the funky chicken all by yourself if that is your goal!

Ultimately, hypnotherapy is a coaching partnership and process. We work together to create therapy goals and use cognitive, behavioural hypnotherapy  to develop neural pathways, gradually building change from thoughts to actions. The actual sessions are client focused and a pleasant experience. We use relaxation and imagination to evoke alterations in sensations, perceptions, feelings, thoughts and behaviours. You will learn to appreciate and use your nervous system to your own benefit. Hypnotherapy is not a quick fix but a forward thinking therapy, equipping you with a tool box of bespoke skills to look after your own mental health. People often find that hypnotherapy as a cascading effect on all aspects of their lives as well as the issue they have sought help for.

Lastly,  of all the official information you need to know about me, I am a fully qualified cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist and I studied with the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. I am fully insured and I am a member of the governing body; The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and The general Hypnotherapy Register.
